Discombobulating

Most people like to be kept busy. Also, most people do not like lacking. This is where work comes in handy (as in “paid work”, done by “highly skilled professionals”.)

At first, the void was called “between jobs”, which was cool, because you had ample time to finally follow your bliss.

Then came “dejobbing”. Nobody exactly knew what that was, but it added spice to the soup, that tasted less and less of billable hours, and was filled more and more with cheapskate (skinned, just a little sour, “highly nutritious at economic prices”).

Other names were “unloading” (mostly online, of course, because where else can people with not a penny to their name go to ventilate?), “retraining” (which has always reminded me of potty training), and “going with the flow” (hey! don’t hijack the flow and use it as a euphemism for being totally lost in the physical realm).

This type of vernacular, as you probably guessed, refers to unemployment, and is part of a ruse, disguising the fact that many are discombobulated, confused, do not know what to do to “mend” their lives.
