It’s a terrible thing to be alone – yes it is – it is – but don’t lower your mask until you have another mask prepared beneath – as terrible as you like – but a mask. (Katherine Mansfield)
This does seem to be the most sought-after strategy. Somehow, the internet for many has become the place to (pretend to) lower one mask, only to reveil another, brand new mask, not necessarily terrible, but nevertheless a mask.
Despite our yearning for Oneness, we’re (forced to) be more masked than ever. ‘t Is a tiresome world we live in. Perhaps we wouldn’t even survive without a mask. It might be all that stands between us and insanity.
